Precision Craftsmanship
Accurate measurements are an important starting point.
If you are simply replacing a door leaf and the frame is in good condition, measuring the existing door is the most straightforward method. Record all measurements in millimeters (mm).
While self-measuring is a vital first step for quoting, we highly recommend a professional survey for complex architectural installs. Final sizing and technical requirements are always confirmed during our onsite survey.
If there is no existing door, or you are replacing the frame as well, you must measure the "rebate" or the clear opening where the door will sit. Do not assume the opening is perfectly square—older properties especially may have shifted over time.
Measure across the top, middle, and bottom of the frame opening.
Measure the left, centre, and right vertical height from floor to header.
Measure the thickness of the wall or frame jamb to ensure the door sits perfectly flush.
Before finalizing your measurements, evaluate the condition of the structural surroundings. Especially in older properties, the frame may have settled or twisted over structural decades.
The direction a door opens and where the hardware is located is critical for overall functionality and spatial flow within an interior room layout.
